About the Austrian Bakery
Austrian Master Baker Michael Mikusch discovered his passion for baking at the young age of 15. Born, raised and educated in Austria, Mikusch became a certified Master Baker at age 22. After bringing his vast knowledge of traditional Austrian baking to work with him in countries all around the world, Mike eventually settled in Chicago. Since opening the Austrian Bakery in 2004, Mikusch has continued to perfect his craft and share his love of authentic Austrian breads, pastries and cakes with the Chicago community.
Hungry? Come in for either breakfast or lunch; we serve a full breakfast menu until 3pm. Or stop in for one of our delicious made-from-scratch soups and a sandwich crafted on your choice of fresh baked breads. While you're here, you can pick up a loaf of our all-natural, preservative free Artisan breads (including a variety of traditional light and dark ryes).
Have a Sweet tooth? Come in for one of our amazing hand-crafted pastries. You can choose from our large selection of strudels, muffins, danishes, croissants, and more! Our special bite-sized cookies are one of our most popular items, each made from a unique recipe and crafted from scratch daily. You can grab a couple Linzer Raspberry cookies as a treat, or pick up a box of Caramel Pecan cookies for home.
Hosting a special event? Whether you're hosting a party, or a business meeting, you can rely on our culinary expertise and years of catering experience to make your special occasion spectacular. With an emphasis on personalized service and impeccable quality, we can cater events for smaller parties, all the way up to 500 people.
